Words Of Love Poems About Love For Him and Pain for Her That Rhyme Tumblr Lost and Pain and Trust and Life for Kids for Him from Her

There are a few Greek words for love, as the Greek language distinguishes how the word is used. Ancient Greek has four distinct words for love: agápe, éros, philía, and storgē. However, as with other languages, it has been historically difficult to separate the meanings of these words. Nonetheless, the senses in which these words were generally used are given below.
Agápe (ἀγάπη agápē) means love in a "spiritual" sense. In the term s'agapo (Σ'αγαπώ), which means "I love you" in Ancient Greek, it often refers to a general affection or deeper sense of "true unconditional love" rather than the attraction suggested by "eros." This love is selfless; it gives and expects nothing in return. Agape is used in the biblical passage known as the "love chapter," 1 Corinthians 13, and is described there and throughout the New Testament as sacrificial and spiritual love. Whether the love given is returned or not, the person continues to love (even without any self-benefit). Agape is also used in ancient texts to denote feelings for one's children and the feelings for a spouse, and it was also used to refer to a love feast. It can also be described as the feeling of being content or holding one in high regard. Agape is used by Christians to express the unconditional love of God for us. This type of love was further explained by Thomas Aquinas as "to will the good of another."
Éros (ἔρως érōs) is "physical" passionate love, with sensual desire and longing. Romantic, pure emotion without the balance of logic. "Love at first sight". The Modern Greek word "erotas" means "intimate love;" however, eros does not have to be sexual in nature.[citation needed] Eros can be interpreted[by whom?] as a love for someone whom you love more than the philia, love of friendship.[citation needed] It can also apply to dating relationships as well as marriage. Plato refined his own definition: Although eros is initially felt for a person, with contemplation it becomes an appreciation of the beauty within that person, or even becomes appreciation of beauty itself. Plato does not talk of physical attraction as a necessary part of love, hence the use of the word platonic to mean, "without physical attraction." In the Symposium, the most famous ancient work on the subject, Plato has Socrates argue that eros helps the soul recall knowledge of beauty, and contributes to an understanding of spiritual truth, the ideal "Form" of youthful beauty that leads us humans to feel erotic desire – thus suggesting that even that sensually based love aspires to the non-corporeal, spiritual plane of existence; that is, finding its truth, just like finding any truth, leads to transcendence. Lovers and philosophers are all inspired to seek truth through the means of eros.
Philia (φιλία philía) is "mental" love. It means affectionate regard or friendship in both ancient and modern Greek. This type of love has give and take. It is a dispassionate virtuous love, a concept developed by Aristotle. It includes loyalty to friends, family, and community, and requires virtue, equality and familiarity. In ancient texts, philos denoted a general type of love, used for love between family, between friends, a desire or enjoyment of an activity, as well as between lovers.
Storge (στοργή storgē) means "affection" in ancient and modern Greek. It is natural affection, like that felt by parents for offspring. Rarely used in ancient works, and then almost exclusively as a descriptor of relationships within the family. It is also known to express mere acceptance or putting up with situations, as in "loving" the tyrant.

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”

A Tribute To Family

© Michelle A. Moran
I don't know when it started,
Or how it all began.
But God created families,
As only our Lord can.
He was teaching what it means,
To love, honor, and obey.
He wanted a strong bond,
That we don't see too much today.
He wanted someone to hold us,
And show respect for others.
He wanted someone who'd be gentle,
And so he created mothers.
He wanted someone strong,
A support filled with love.
And so he created fathers,
Sent from heaven up above.
Brothers and sisters came next,
With that, an instant friend.
Someone to look up to,
Someone on who to depend.
When he put them all together,
He was amazed at what he'd done.
He had created a family,
Mother, father, daughter, son.
But look at the family,
Created by only two.
How many we've become,
And all because of you.
We have a lot to be thankful for,
The memories through the years.
The many times together,
Full of laughter, full of tears.
I don't know where we'd be today,
If it weren't for the two of you.
To show us strength, support, and love,
Like only the two of you can do.

Riches

© Jeanne D. Rhein
They say that times were tough then
That money was very tight
But I remember my childhood
And I know that can't be right
Mom would cook our dinner
Dad came home at five
We were all sitting at the table
Waiting for him to arrive
We wouldn't eat from a microwave
Or a restaurant down the street
We all ate Mom's home cooking
And boy that can't be beat
We didn't eat in front of the TV
Or with a phone in our hand
We weren't plugged into a stereo
bopping to the latest band
We would all sit at the table
Everyone in their place
There were never any surprises
We recognized every face
Brothers to the left of me
Sisters to the right
That's the way we ate dinner
Every single night
We laughed we joked we talked we ate
We were a family don't you see
Though some may have been raised poor
You can see it wasn't me
We ate collards we ate biscuits
We ate fatback and blackeyed peas
We said yes sir we said no sir
We said thank you ma'am and please
So when you talk of family life
Or how it used to be
Though many had more money
None were as rich as me

The Power Of Family

© Antony Smith
Family is,
heaven sent from our father above,
bonded by the power of love.
No matter what family has each others back,
when push comes to shove.
Family is,
understanding, never demanding,
all for one and one for all,
I will never leave you alone standing.
Family is,
one in itself, my love is your love,
your pain is my pain, my wealth is your wealth,
I promise to never leave you by yourself.
Family is,
the strongest team, the strongest unit;
if love could be visualized,
family would be the blue print.
Family is,
forgiveness and patience,
it's sweeter than the sweetest fragrance,
the power of family is a reflection of God's compassion and magnificence.
Family is,
never turning our back, and never shames,
lend my helping hand and not a finger pointing the blame.
No matter what, a family bond can never be broken,
even through a nuclear explosion,
if one of us lives we all live.
Forever to eternity, we are family,
my father, my mother, my sisters and me.

The Lonely Pipes Of Scotland

© Cheryl Alexander
I've heard the lonely pipes of Scotland,
Many times in my dreams,
I've seen the land of my ancestors,
Clearly, it seems.
The bright colors of the tartan,
The lively swing of the kilt,
Sent my minds eye back,
To the place my ancestors knelt.
Rather in a castle, built for a king,
Or in a garden, which grew everything.
I have been given a gift to peep,
When I close my eyes and fall asleep.
It is as if I were standing there,
I've witnessed great battle and love,
The courage and strength of my granddads,
And granddads before them,
All tower from above.
And surrounding them all, with a tune of its own,
were the lonely pipes of Scotland,
Calling me home.

Three Sisters
© Francis I. Gillespie
We are three sisters
Three sisters are we
I love each of you,
And I know you love me
We're not always together,
Life sometimes keeps us apart.
But we're never separated
We'rein each other's heart.
Now I know we've had our troubles,
But we always get thru.
The real message is you love me,
And I also love you.
We have had lots of good times
That we'll never forget
Sometimes we worry
And sometimes we fret
But if God ever gave me
Something special you see,
It might have been the blessing of,
Three sisters are we.
The Lord above has gave me lots
Of happiness and glee
But the most special thing he did was
Make us sisters, all three.

My Sister
© Jennifer D. Brock
What you mean to me,
Is more than I can express.
You see, I had no sister when I was little
To call when I was in distress.
When we first met,
We had no clue,
What was getting ready to happen,
Was not completely out of the blue.
God had a plan,
Throughout all the years,
He was making us for each other,
To share life's smiles and tears.
I never could have imagined,
What a sister's love was about,
Until I met you,
And then I really found out.
A sister's love is unconditional,
It's a love has no end,
A sister's love wants the best for each other,
It's a love that will always defend.
Sometimes we may get mad,
Or we may begin to fight,
But that's the fun part about having a sister,
We both think we're always right!
I'm so glad that I did not have,
A sister in the past,
It's made me much more thankful,
For the sister I have at last.

My Sister, My Friend
© Leann Stiegman
To me you are an angel in disguise.
Full of intuition, intelligent, and wise.
Always giving and helping through
Good times and bad.
You are the best friend I've ever had.
If I had one wish it would surely be
To give you as much as you've given to me.
Though I've put our relationship through some cloudy days,
You've been my sunshine in so many ways.
Through trials and tests, right by me
You stood,
And gave me your hand whenever you could.
Thank you so much my sister, my friend
My gratitude for you has no end.

The Burkhead Way
© Asia Burkhead
What can you say about a sister who
Has everything? Laughter, life, love
Smiles, tears, enthusiasm, spark, knowledge,
Spunk and to top it all off, Beauty.
A sister isn't just a sibling!
She is a whole world.
The things she touches are amazing. The love
She shares is beautiful.
And her encouragement is spectacular.
To have a sister doesn't make you special,
To know your sister, makes you invincible.
The bond sisters' share is enlightening.
The love they give to each other is magnificent.
To look into your sisters eyes and know
What she is thinking, isn't a miracle, it's natural
To see her smile warms your heart. To hear her talk
Sooths your soul. To feel her heartbeat in you, is special.
They say sisters are from cradle to grave,
But I believe that it is the in between that counts.
When she takes the rap for something you did,
She doesn't need a thanks, she does it because she cares.
When she sits up till 3:00 AM with you,
Even if she has to get up at 7:00 AM,
She doesn't feel exhausted, she feels cleansed
When you two cry together till your eyes are all puffy,
She isn't just sad she believes that it cures the heart.
When she picks out your first prom dress, or brings you
Your first flowers, and when she buys you a card because
You had a bad day she is glad that she could help.
A sister's word of encouragement or warning
Is always taken to heart. When she explains
How to handle a boy at school, or how to
Talk to mom, she's touched that you came to her.
When she can sympathize with you
Because she's been there, it's comforting.
When she can share your dreams with you,
It's encouraging. When she beats you up
Because you're a brat, it's learning.
Sisters can do anything. Together they
Will conquer the world. But when it's
All said and done, she will hold you hand
Because she's proud to be your sister.
So, if you are blessed to have a sister through blood,
Be thankful. And if you're all alone, grab the first precious girl
In your life, and make her your sister.
Sisters are everything you need.
And a whole lot more.

My Little Man
© Brittany
My little boy is growing
Getting bigger every day
I fear it won't be long enough
Before I have to say
Goodbye my little man
How much you have grown
I still remember
When I brought you home
You looked so perfect
In your little blue hat
And now you're leaving
And not looking back
It's time for you
To follow your fate
As I'm watching you walk
Out the front gate
Tears come from my eye
As you wave goodbye
Don't matter when
Don't matter why
When you leave
Is the day I will die
No time soon
Will this come to be
But when it does
Please don't forget me

Little Bed
© Ben Mitchell
Here I lie safe in my little bed
My small hands tucked under my head
I sleep so content in my growing love
Knowing that my parents are standing above
watching out for me so that I can grow
They love me so much, this I surely know
When I open my eyes, first thing I'll see
will be my Mom and Dad standing over me
From them I'll learn what is right and wrong
And then I will grow so big and be so strong
Then, when I'm bigger I will be so good
just like my parents knew I always would

Daddy's Little Angel
© Jason A. Hodges
When you were born you filled my heart with pride,
And I was overcome by the joy I felt inside.
As I held you in my arms that very first day,
I knew I would never let any harm come your way.
With your tiny little hands and tiny little feet,
Every time I look at you my heart skips a beat.
As I watch you sleep in the middle of the night,
I hope and pray I will do everything right.
I know I may make some mistakes along the way,
But I promise to do my best not to every single day.
I often wonder what you will grow up to be,
But whatever you become will be fine with me.
So whatever you may decide to do in your life,
Maybe an astronaut, a lawyer, or even a doctor's wife.
I can say this without any doubt at all,
I will always be there to catch you if you fall.
And another promise I make to you from me,
Daddy's little angel you will always be.

Thank You Daughter
© Robert Mayfield
Thank you daughter for the gift you gave to me
A happier grandfather there never will be
This beautiful little girl, so tiny, so small
Brought joy to my life, smiles to us all.
I see you in her face and her eyes so blue
This little girl is a carbon copy of you
And just like you, she will grow O so fast
These precious moments you know won't last
Cherish every second, every minute, every day
You'll be astounded by how fast time flies away
I know a wonderful mother you will surely be
As wonderful as the daughter you have been to me
There are no words on earth or up above
That for you and Keelin can express my Love
Love Dad/Pop Pop

I Love You
© Umanga Wijesena
I love your brown eyes
I love your button nose
I love your messy morning hair
and your teeny, tiny toes
I love your big bright smile
and your little pearly whites
I love your pointy chin
and your silky smooth skin
I love your long little fingers
and your chubby little cheeks
I love your ducky walk
and your never ending talk
I love it when you sing
and start splashing the bath
I love it when you sleep
snuggled in my arms
I love you with all my heart
no matter what it may be
Sometimes I love for no reason
and sometime because you're my sweet honeybee.

Children Poems Poems About Love For Him and Pain for Her That Rhyme Tumblr Lost and Pain and Trust and Life for Kids for Him from Her

Source:- Google.com.pk
The poems contained in this children’s poetry portfolio are not made for children. Poetry is like a curvy slide in a playground — an odd object, available to the public — and, as I keep explaining to my local police force, everyone should be able to use it, not just those of a certain age.
In general I am suspicious of anything written specifically for children. It is, of course, acceptable to write something to a specific child — “Dear Elizabeth, I have reason to believe this cake is poison, so please leave it alone and I’ll take care of it later” — but things written by someone who is thinking only of children far too often have an unfortunate tone. If you have ever seen an adult hunch over and begin talking to a child in the high-pitched voice of an irritating simpleton, then you know the tone I mean. It is a tone that takes the fun out of everything, even everything fun.
Speaking of fun, some time ago I found myself locked in the basement of the Poetry Foundation building. It is a handy place to hide from the authorities, a horrible place to forage for snacks, and a wonderful place in which to get some reading done. The basement is crammed with the efforts of poets living and dead, famed and forgotten, terrific and terrible. There are books of poetry everyone knows, and little pamphlets no one has heard of. There are anthologies, a word which here means “a book containing a bunch of poems gathered together, often for no good reason,” and there are loose pages, scrawled and printed and typed with sestinas and epithalamiums and forms of poetry that have yet to be given names.
By the time it was safe for me to emerge, blinking, onto the streets of Chicago, I had gathered together the poems you now find here. I asked my associate Chris Raschka to provide some illustrations, and I have added a few notes which may or may not be appreciated. There are poems by men and women, living and dead, familiar to millions and unknown to everybody. The only things that all the poems have in common is that they are all strange in some way, because all great literature is strange, the way all good slides are slippery.
If you are a child, you might like these poems. Of course, you might not. Poems, like children, are individuals, and will not be liked by every single person who happens to come across them. So you may consider this portfolio a gathering of people in a room. It does not matter how old they are, or how old you are yourself. What matters is that there are a bunch of   people standing around in a room, and you might want to look at them.
“Knocks on the door”
Knocks on the door.
Who?
I sweep the dust of my loneliness
under the rug.
I arrange a smile
and open.
                                        — Maram al-Massri
                                        tr. by Khaled Mattaw
Doors
An open door says, “Come in.”
A shut door says, “Who are you?”
Shadows and ghosts go through shut doors.
If a door is shut and you want it shut,
     why open it?
If a door is open and you want it open,
     why shut it?
Doors forget but only doors know what it is
     doors forget.
                                        — Carl Sandburg
Starting to read something, such as a portfolio, is like opening a door, so I thought it would be interesting to start with two poems about doors written by two very different poets. Maram al-Massri is a Syrian woman who now lives in the city of Paris, France. Carl Sandburg is an American man who doesn’t live anywhere, due to death.
The Witch Has Told You a Story
You are food.
You are here for me
to eat. Fatten up,
and I will like you better.
Your brother will be first,
you must wait your turn.
Feed him yourself, you will
learn to do it. You will take him
eggs with yellow sauce, muffins
torn apart and leaking butter, fried meats
late in the morning, and always sweets
in a sticky parade from the kitchen.
His vigilance, an ice pick of   hunger
pricking his insides, will melt
in the unctuous cream fillings.
He will forget. He will thank you
for it. His little finger stuck every day
through cracks in the bars
will grow sleek and round,
his hollow face swell
like the moon. He will stop dreaming
about fear in the woods without food.
He will lean toward the maw
of   the oven as it opens
every afternoon, sighing
better and better smells.
                                        — Ava Leavell Haymon
“Yes, I live inside the piano”
Yes, I live inside the piano,
but there is no need for you
to come and visit me.

I’m in the house.
It’s nice out: warm
sun on cold snow.
First day of spring
or last of winter.
My legs run down
the stairs and out
the door, my top
half here typing
                                         — Ron Padgett
Sometimes a poet gets very interested in some story or event we’ve all heard many times but never thought much about. Haymon’s poem is from a book called Why the House Is Made of Gingerbread. “Vigilance” means “waiting alertly.” “Unctuous” means “trying very hard to please someone in a way that is often irritating.”
In the poem by Ron Padgett I know exactly what he means. In the poem by Katerina Rudcenkova I have no idea what she is talking about. I’m not sure which I like better.
Trust
If   I would be walking down the road
you told me to imagine and I would and find
a diner kind of   teacup sitting on its saucer
in the middle then I would feel so good
in my life that is just like mine
I would walk right up and look into my face
eclipsing the sky in the tea in the cup
and say, “Thank you, I have enjoyed
imagining all this.”

“Eclipsing” is a word which here means “blocking the light from,” as the moon sometimes does of the sun, and vice versa. One of the things I like about this poem is how polite it is.
In the Low Countries
They are building a ship
in a field
much bigger than I should have thought
sensible.
When it is finished
there will never be enough of them
to carry it to the sea
and already it is turning
rusty.
