Only A Cna?

Who are you to refer to us,
As "Only" a CNA?

We're the ones who wash and dress,
Our patients for the day.

We're the ones who take the time,
To listen to them speak.

We listen about their lifetime,
In a forty hour week.

We also give our hands to hold,
When someone's feeling scared.

It's not easy being a patient,
You're never quite prepared.

We take the time to listen,
By lending both our ears.

We listen to their worries,
Or how they've spent their years.

Our arms were made to reach,
And even wrap around.

To give our patients hugs,
When their feeling a little down.

We help our patients do the things,
They used to do on their own.

Everybody needs some help,
Even when we're grown.

So who are you to refer to us,
As "only" a CNA?

We do our best to meet their needs,
Within our working day.

We chose to do this job,
The job did not choose us.

We sympathize and empathize,
Compassion is a must.

We try to keep them comfortable,
And free of any fear.

We sit along beside them,
When that time is near.

We hold their hand, stroke their hair,
Just making sure they know.

Their not alone, an aide is there,
It's ok for them to go.

To all the CNA's keep your head held high,

We're not "only" CNA's.

For A Soldier

When you wake up in the morning or stay up on nights end
know that your sister is here till the very end
When you gather your equipment and grasp your gun
Know that you're loved, brother, uncle, son

When you think of the memories we all shared before
Think of the future and know that there be more
When you look at pictures and see your wife
I want you to smile brother because she is your life.

When your hurting inside cause you think you've done wrong
Lift your head up and remember you're strong
When you fire your weapon and see injuries dead
Please hold on tight don't let it go to your head

When you leave from there and you're packed for home
I want you to think back and know you weren't alone
When you see us and we hold you tight
I will smile and tell you that you held up a fight.
Be strong Scott I know you can do this
Because when this is over your life will be full of bliss

To forget where she came from.

She couldn't brush her hair,
Or put make up on her face.

Or give you a warm embrace.

She couldn't clasp her hands,
As if in the form of prayer.
She couldn't understand,
Why she was in a wheelchair.

She never showed her fears,
Or let you hear her cries.
She never showed the tears,
That fell down from her eyes.

She never looked for pity,
Or sympathy from you.
That's why she'll always be,
The strongest girl I ever knew.
